Dear Friends,
We, the executive committee members, are really honoured to be
elected for Sri Yagnavalkya Sabha, Chennai in the last AGM Meeting
held on 19th August 2007 and thank you all in reposing
faith in us. We shall dedicate ourselves for taking the message of
Sri Yagnavalkya to the people and to revitalize our Sabha and its
activities.
A number of new proposals are on the anvil. Our immediate task is to
do essential repairs to the Sabha building and to celebrate Sri
Yagnavalkya’s Jayanthi in a grand manner, which falls on 21st
November, 2007. To enable our members dispersed in different areas of
the city to attend in large numbers, we propose to celebrate
Yagnavalkya Jayanthi in a central place i.e. T.Nagar with the
concluding programme in our Sabha premises at Pallavaram.
Our principal objective is to unite all Shukla Yajur Vedis under one
banner and to involve them in the socio-religious activities. Our
emphasis is to motivate and to inculcate the responsibility of
citizenship with ethics and values preached by Yagnavalkya to our
younger generation. With this objective we intend to organize regular
events, start Veda classes in different localities and bring out
handouts, books and other materials for educating our brethren. We
also intend to form Youth groups and other cultural groups so that
our members will have ample opportunities to interact with one
another.
We are releasing a souvenir rich with information to commemorate this
year’s Jayanthi. Members interested can send their articles,
paintings, photographs, record of events etc., befitting the souvenir
to the Editor to the following Address, on or before 20th
October 07.
